Magnavox universal remotes use pre-set codes to connect audio-visual equipment to the remote. When setting up the remote control for a device such as a DVD player or game player, you will need the code from Magnavox that corresponds to your equipment manufacturer.

How to program a Magnavox remote control
The Magnavox remote must be programmed to connect to any device.
Program a Magnavox 4-in-1 Universal Remote
Turn on the device you want to program. Use the numeric keypad to enter the 4-digit code from the Magnavox website or the documentation that came with the remote control. Press and hold the Scan Code button for 2 seconds until the indicator light on the top of the remote control lights up.
If the LED starts flashing, you have entered an invalid code. Re-enter the code using the numeric keypad and press the Find Code button. If the LED flashes again, contact Magnavox for a correct code.
When the LED is solid, press the device select button on the second row of the remote you want to use for your device. Use the numeric keypad to enter the Magnavox 4-digit code a second time. The LED will turn off, indicating that you have successfully added your device to the remote.

Program a Magnavox 8-in-1 Universal Remote
Turn on the device you want to add to the remote control. Use the numeric keypad to enter the 4-digit code for the device and press the button of the device you want to use. Press and hold the Set button for 3 seconds until the LED lights up. Enter the 4-digit code a second time using the numeric keypad. The LED turns off when the device is set correctly. Try connecting to your device.

6 Ways to Fix a Magnavox Remote That Doesn't Work
Replace the batteries
Remove the battery compartment cover on the back of the remote control. Remove the batteries and clean the terminals with rubbing alcohol. Install new batteries and make sure the batteries are installed correctly. You should hear the partition click.
Rechargeable batteries do not work on all devices. Replace them with new non-rechargeable batteries to see if the remote control works.
